"We thought you had rid the world of evil, but instead evil was allowed to return to the world, allowed to fester. Allowed to return in the form of my lover so the two of us would become further estranged... You were corrupted by your love, By giving in to your love, you let evil flourish in our world."

Allegra Van Alen, to Charles Force

Allegra Van Alen is one of the central figures in the first cycle of the Blue Bloods series. As the earthly reincarnation of Gabrielle, the Uncorrupted, she is one of the seven original archangels and the only vampire who was not cursed or fallen, but chose to descend to Earth to guide the Blue Bloods. Allegra is revered as a symbol of purity and divine mercy, and is well-known for disobeying vampire society's strict rules, most notably by breaking her sacred bone with Michael and falling in love with her human familiar, Stephen Chase. This act of disobedience resulted in the birth of Schuyler Van Alen, an impossible child born of vampire and human blood.

Biography[]

Gabrielle is one of the seven original archangels that fell from Heaven during the War of Heaven, although she is unique in that she did not succumb to Lucifer's perversion. Gabrielle, unlike other archangels, remained clean and sin-free, receiving the nickname "The Uncorrupted." She chose to walk the earth out of love for the Blue Bloods. Wanting to guide them and hopefully one day return them to Paradise, their home.

She was eternally bound to Michael, the Pure of Heart. Who followed Gabrielle from Paradise out of love for her. They formed the Blue Blood race's spiritual axis and formed a coven for the vampires as well. Her divine role has always been one of redemption, mercy, and spiritual equilibrium, with an emphasis on protecting the Gates between Earth and Hell.

Past Lives[]

War of Heaven[]

Meni (Egypt)[]

As Meni, Gabrielle served as a high priestess in one of Egypt's first dynasties. Meni, a revered mystic and oracle, helped codify the first blood, memory, and spiritual travel rites that would later become Blue Blood vampire practices. This existence reflects Gabrielle's early attempts to blend her angelic nature with the human world, teaching values such as memory, balance, and order. Meni's mastery of the Glom established her as one of the first Gatekeepers in documented vampire history. She also wrote the Code of Vampires during this time with her bondmate Menes (Michael). Believing that if Blue Bloods follow the code, they can one day but let back into paradise.

Junia Terria (Rome)[]

During the Roman Empire, Gabrielle was reincarnated as Junia Teresa, a noblewoman and spiritual figure of great elegance and beauty. She was bound to Cassius (Michael), a senator and general of the Blue Blood Conclave during one of the most significant times in vampire history: Lucifer's first bodily appearance, disguised as Gaius Caligula. After unmasking him, Caligula raged war on the other Blue Bloods. Him and his army killed many of the Blue Bloods.

During Lucifer’s final stand in Rome, he took Junia hostage. Cassius was faced with a horrific choice: kill Lucifer and risk Junia's life, or let him go. He chose to spare her — and Lucifer escaped into the shadows. This decision led to the rise of the Silver Bloods. Cassius led the Coven to believe he trapped Lucifer behind the Gate of Promise, but this was not the truth. Junia kept their secret, as she trusted Cassius's judgement more then anyone, and did not want to cause another mass panic.

“Victory at your grasp. Kill me, Lucifer whispered, and you kill Gabrielle. The demon held me in his arms, held the sword at my belly. He began to plunge the knife into me. But time froze. In that split second when the world stood still. And you dropped the blade. Pulled the devil’s sword away from me. I fell to the ground. Lucifer saw his chance and he slipped from your grasp. I lived. But you could have had your victory, Michael.”

Allegra Van Alen

This life marked the beginning of Gabrielle’s emotional withdrawal from Michael and the first deep fracture in their eternal bond.

Tomasia Fosari (Florence)[]

During the Renaissance, Gabrielle was reincarnated as Tomasia Fosari, a Florence noblewoman and one of the Conclave's most committed Venators. She worked alongside Andreas del Pollaiuolo (Michael) and Giovanni Rushtici to track down and eliminate the last Silver Bloods in Italy.

Unbeknownst to her, Lucifer had also returned, reborn as Giovanni Rushtici. Gio gradually utilized allure and trickery to trick Tomasia into believing he was the genuine manifestation of Michael. He had also started to implant the idea that Andreas was actually Lucifer in this cycle. As Andreas had unexpectedly vanished from Florence, Gio filled the vacuum by offering confidence, loyalty, and eventually claiming to be her intended bondmate. Tomasia, vulnerable and perplexed, believed him, and the two were united in a sacred vampire ceremony.

Shortly after their bonding, Andreas reappeared and revealed the truth: Gio was Lucifer in disguise, infiltrating the Coven and fooling Tomasia. Andreas and the Conclave successfully confined Lucifer in the Gate of Promise beneath Lutetia. While Tomasia was relieved to have the real Michael back, she was even more shocked to discover she was pregnant with Lucifer's child.

Tomasia admitted her pregnancy to Andreas and begged him to spare the child. But Andreas, frightened by the possibilities, imprisoned her in her home for the rest of her pregnancy. Andreas devised a dark plan with the assistance of Ludivivo Arosto (Metatron), a trustworthy scribe and philosopher: wipe Tomasia's memory and dispose of the child.

“Their child. Born of love. Gio—Lucifer—she had loved him. Whatever she had done, she had loved him, and she loved this child. She would do everything to protect her—and it was a daughter, she knew that for certain. She would do everything to protect her from Andreas.”

Tomasia

The child was given to Patrizio (Malakai) for disposal of the child. Ludivivo implanted false memories in Tomasia's head, explaining away the time gap as a blood spell placed on her by a Silver Blood that put her into a coma for many months. Although fragments of her birth were still present.

Rose Standish (Plymouth)[]

Gabrielle was reincarnated as Rose Standish, a serious and religious young woman. She joined her bondmate Myles Standish (Michael) on his expedition to the New World. They wanted a fresh start following the decline of their species and the horrific events they witnessed. They arrived in the New World and were joined by numerous other Blue Bloods. This quest will take a terrible turn when the Roanoke colony vanished, leaving just one word carved on a tree: "Croatan". Rose's scened the feelings of danger. She kept this to herself, not wanting to frighten her people and instill terror in the New World. She trusted her bondmate Myles. Following the disappearance, the current Regis, John Carver (Metatron), and his wife attempted to notify the Coven of the Silver Bloods' return. Myles downplayed this, claiming they were attempting to scare the Blue Bloods and return them to the dark ages. Myles called a white vote and win the title as Regis, Rose stand by his side.

It is noted that she had fourteen children in this life, including seven sets of twins. After the devastating loss in Rome, she took it upon herself to repopulate and restore the Blue Blood line. This is also symbolic, as she is referred to as the “mother of all Blue Bloods”.

Current incarnation[]

Early life[]

Like many Blue Bloods of her time, she began her schooling at Manhattan's Duchesne School, where she quietly withstood the strains of elite vampire society. In her junior year, she transferred to Endicott Academy, a prestigious boarding school in Massachusetts, in search of more independence and emotional freedom. Allegra thrived socially and emotionally. She was recognized on campus as a cheery, lively, and athletic captain of the girls' field hockey team, and she was admired for her natural charisma and leadership skills.

Allegra had a hidden relationship with her Endicott classmate and familiar, Stephen "Bendix" Chase. They quickly fell in love with one another. This was also a result of Charles overbearing nature. He would constantly remind Allegra of her duties as Gabrielle. This irritated Allegra, she just wanted to live her life as a 16 year old girl. This led Allegra to distance herself from Charles, denying his love and advice in favor of Stephen. Who made her feel as she was just a normal girl. While performing the sacred kiss on Stephen. Allegra got a vivid visions of her future: a child born outside the Code, her mind stuck in coma, and the world on the verge of disaster. She saw noticed the missing presence of Stephen, who she suspected had already past by this time. She distanced herself from Stephen, fearing for their future. These visions severely disturbed her, signaling the beginning of her emotional separation from the vampire world.

She begin to accept her life in the Blue Blood society, loving Charles again and begin being a active member of the Committee. After leaving Endicott, she would hop around private schools. She later got accepted into college with Charles and awakening her full angelic memories and powers. Allegra's place in Blue Blood society was solidified when she made her debut at the Four Hundred Ball at the age of eighteen, leading the cotillion alongside Charles Force. Her appearance was so stunning that she gained the epithet "debutante of the decade," which both pleased and bothered her.

After a few year's, she was set to be rebounded with Charles in this cycle. Although she still had love for Stephen deep in her heart. This led her to denounce her role in the coven and run away with Stephen, marrying in the process. Allegra known her future visions were as clear as day now. She found comfort in Stephen and told him of her premonition's. Stephen did not care and told her this is their life to live. Stephen fell ill. Allegra stayed with him during his final days. She did not realize she was pregnant til after Stephen passed.

She gave birth to Schuyler Van Alen, the first natural-born hybrid from human and blue blood. During this time she enjoyed her time with her daughter, knowing their time was soon to be cut short. After three years, she fell into a self-induced coma. Resulting from her not wanting to take another human familiar after the death of Stephen. She retreated into the Glom to maintain spiritual equilibrium and guard the Gates.

Role in the Series[]

Blue Bloods[]

When we first meet Allegra, she is in a coma like state. She is housed at the Columbia Presbyterian Hospital on the top floor, with a private room that is outfitted like a suite of a popular hotel. The doctors explain that her brain levels are normal and that she could wake at anytime. She went into the coma a few months after her daughter Schuyler was born. Schuyler has been visiting her every Sunday for the past few years. She often reads newspapers to Allegra in hopes of getting her to wake from her coma. Cordelia, Schuyler grandmother, told her that reading to Allegra might get her to wake up from recognizing her daughters voice. Schuyler states that sometimes she hears Allegra sigh when she reads love stories from the newspapers.

Schuyler sometimes see a mysterious shadow over Allegra's bed. She believes this to be the spirt of her late father. We later find out this was Charles Force visiting Allegra, often crying and begging her to return to him. Schuyler often asks Cordelia questions about her mother, but Cordelia does not talk about Allegra much outside of a few mentions from her youth. Throughout the book we find out that Schuyler is a Dimidius Cognatues ( half-blood) resulting from Allegra's marriage to her human familiar Stephen "Ben" Chase. Stephen before Schuyler was born.

Towards the end of the book, Cordelia is attacked by a Sliver Blood. From her last words she explains to Schuyler Allegra's true identity. Allegra is Gabrielle, the Uncorrupted. She is one of two archangels that willingly left Paradise to guide the Blue Bloods. Michael, Pure of Heart, left with Gabrielle out of love for her. Gabrielle and Michael were blood bonded to one another. Throughout the centuries Gabrielle and Michael would renew their bond and continue their love. They were born as twins in the current cycle. Allegra broke her bond to Charles (Michael in this cycle) and married her human familiar Stephen. Resulting in Stephen's death. Allegra swore to never take another familiar, leading to her coma. After this Charles left the Van Alen family name behind and started a new life under Charles Force.

Masquerade[]

Schuyler visits her mother at the hospital. There she finds Charles Force kneeling by Allegra's bedside, wiping tears from his eyes. Schuyler reflects on the history between her mother and Charles, the only two vampires who were never fallen but chose to descend voluntarily. Charles explains that Allegra fell into a coma after swearing never to take another human familiar following the death of Schuyler's father. He states she chooses to be in a coma because she cannot die, yet no longer wishes to live.

Schuyler places an unopened gift at Allegra's bedside, adding it to the growing collection of untouched presents over the years. One night, Schuyler wakes in her mother's hospital room with no memory of how she got there. She recalls seeing Allegra awake, sitting up, and saying "Beware, Schuyler. Beware." But when she looks again, Allegra is asleep and unresponsive.

Lawrence Van Alen visits Allegra for the first time since returning from exile. Charles arrives with flowers. The two argue over Allegra's fate, Lawrence blames Charles for defying the natural order by saving her life in a past cycle. Charles insists he had no choice and that Allegra will awaken one day out of love for him. Lawrence explains that Schuyler is almost as powerful as Allegra, and recalls the prophecy that Gabrielle's daughter will guide them to paradise. Charles reminds Lawrence that Gabrielle has two daughter's.

Schuyler visits her mother before agreeing to perform a blood trial to save Mimi Force. She pleads with her mother for advice on the matter but she does not respond.

Allegra Van Alen

Misguided Angel[]

Allegra does not appear in Misguided Angel. Instead, the novel includes multiple flashback chapters from one of her previous lives, when she was known as Tomasia Fosari during the Florence Cycle. Tomasia, Andreas (Michael) and a new Venator Giovanni are tracking suspected Silver Bloods through the streets of Florence. Tomasia is quick, disciplined, and alert, taking a hidden vantage point as they lay a trap. The Silver Blood diverts from the expected behavior by engaging in conversation with a cloaked human figure. As they pursue the Silver Blood to the doom of Basilica, Andreas prepares to kill it, the cloaked human reappears and destroys the creature himself. It is revealed to be a demon from Hell, not a Silver Blood. The creature bears the sigil of Lucifer, a mark Tomasia last saw on Caligula during the fall of Rome. Tomasia is shaken by the possibility that Lucifer may have returned.

By day, Tomasia works as an apprentice sculptor. Though gifted, she is overshadowed by Giovanni's talent. Despite the calm of her work, Tomasia remains unsettled by recent events. She worries about the mark she found on the creature and what it may mean about Lucifer's resurgence. Andreas is often absent, traveling with Medici on political business. Though Tomasia respects his work and his dedication to shaping the human world through art and culture, she misses him. She states she continues to love him access all of his past reincarnations.

Tomasia and Giovanni visit a Croatan changeling living in the sewers of Florence, a disfigured blind Silver Blood kept alive only because it provides occasional intelligence. Tomasia presents the mark found on the creature and demands answers. The Silver Blood confirms that a fellow Venator has been corrupted during a mission. This revelation shocks Tomasia. The Silver Blood tells her that Andreas has already been aware of the corruption. She is now more concerned that Andreas already knew and did not tell the team.

Tomasia and Giovanni follow a trail to a secret chamber beneath the cathedral dome. There they find a human women who is visibly pregnant and bears the same mark found on the creature. When questioned about the father of her child, the human women claims it is Andreas. Tomasia is horrified by this revelation. Lucifer has returned, and is somehow using Andrea's form. Tomasia is left devastated and uncertain on where to go next with this new information. She finds comfort in Giovanni who states he suspended Andreas true persona all along.

Allegra Van Alen

To protect Ben she chooses to end their relationship. She returns Charles affection and accepts her role and duty as Gabrielle.

"She had been wrong to dismiss Charles, to push him away, to cringe at his touch. She saw that now. His eternal love was not a burden, it was a gift. She owned his heart. It was a responsibility she could live up to. She would keep it safe."

His hands were warm and soft.

Allegra, to Charles

Allegra spirit reaches out to Schuyler while she visits her father's grave. Allegra reveals that Stephen died before Schuyler was born. Allegra reminisces her love for Stephen and their brief happiness. She asks Schuyler to forgive Cordelia for hiding her from Stephen's family, telling her it was only done to protect her.

"But the best that is in you is from him. He was the most unselfish person I ever knew. When he learned who and what I was, he told me to forgive Charles, that it was important I return to him. He wanted that for me, for us. Sometimes love means letting go, he said. Remember that when you arrive at the crossroads."

Allegra

In the final chapters, Allegra reclaims her full angelic identity as Gabrielle, the Uncorrupted. She recounts the moment in Rome when she first discovered that Caligula was Lucifer in disguise. She tried to flee to warn the Coven but Lucifer caught up to her. During the final moments of the Battle of Rome, Lucifer had his sword to her belly. He mocked Cassius (Michael), knowing if he killed Caligula, he would take down Gabrielle with him. Cassius made the difficult choice to spare Lucifer to save Gabrielle. Marking the first time Gabrielle started to distrust Michael and his plans. She tells this story to Schuyler, to not make the same mistakes as her angelic father and to sacrifice for the better good.

"As your weakness grew, the Gates of Hell weakened as well. The borders between the worlds disintegrated. You were corrupted by your love. By giving in to your love, you let evil flourish in our world."

Gabrielle

After Schuyler defeats Lucifer, Michael and Gabrielle along with her father Stephen appear to her. Praising her for her sacrifice and courage. Gabrielle along with the rest of the Blue Bloods have ascended at last, redeemed and radiant, with Schuyler leading the Fallen into salvation. Gabrielle's journey, long mired in tragedy, secrecy, and sacrifice, ends in light. Gabrielle stands not only as Schuyler's mother and Michael's counterpart but as a symbol of what redemption truly means.

“What now?” she asked. Then she saw that the gate had opened, that the way before them was filled with light. “Lead us,” Gabrielle said, pointing to the path. “We will follow.” It is said among our people that Gabrielle’s daughter will bring us the salvation we seek. The Redemption of the Fallen had begun."

Physical appearance[]

Allegra Van Alen has been seen in a coma for the majority of the books, she has been described as short, with a graceful posture. She is consistently described as ethereal, breathtaking, and otherworldly; with an angelic beauty that some say reflect her true identity as Gabrielle, the Uncorrupted. Her skin is pale and sometimes translucent, like moonlight. Her eyes are piercing green, with high and sculpted cheekbones. Her hair is platinum blonde. Her daughter, Schuyler, has often been compared to Allegra beauty.

“Allegra had a timeless beauty that seemed untouched by human experience — as if she had existed before memory, and would continue long after.”

Personality[]

Allegra Van Alen embodies a complex duality of grace, melancholy, and quiet strength. Her ethereal beauty and refined demeanor often set her apart from others, making her seem enigmatic or removed, especially in her later years leading up to her coma. However, her detachment masks a deeply emotional and empathetic soul, marked by past regrets and burdens too heavy for most to understand. She is introspective and spiritual, often guided by her moral compass rather than social expectations. Unlike many of her kind, she resists the rigid traditions of the Blue Bloods, especially the doctrine surrounding bonding and hierarchy. She demonstrates a rare compassion for humanity and is unafraid to defy the Conclave to follow her heart, even at great personal cost.

Throughout her many past life's, Gabrielle is fiercely idealistic and believes in redemption, forgiveness, and free will. She is passionate and strong-willed but often conflicted. She is driven by her fore values, mercy, redemption, and sacrifice. Even when faced with unbearable choices, such as turning away Michael, falling in love with a human, or protecting her half-human daughter, she acts with conviction, no matter the consequences. Her compassion is not weakness but a source of divine strength.

Powers and abilities[]

  • Gabrielle has the ability to find out the truth and see people’s memories by drinking their blood without becoming a Silver Blood. This is called a Blood Trial, and this ability is only usable by her and Schuyler, her daughter. It is unknown whether Bliss can.
  • Exclusive ability to wield her sword that never misses and can kill other archangels.
  • Because she is an Uncorrupted, she is one of the few vampires who can get naturally pregnant, as well as creating new life. Other Blue Bloods, in contrast, can only reincarnate vampyres in Evolution, in between expressions.
  • Possession of a special mark that only Uncorrupted vampyres have that cannot be faked.
  • As with all Blue Bloods, she has the power of enhanced strength and speed, telepathy, perfect recall, shapeshifting, and access to the Glom.

Relationships[]

Romances[]

Michael

Gabrielle and Michael, the Virtuous and the Valiant, have been eternally bonded since the beginning of time. They were the first angels to fall—not from sin, but from devotion. Gabrielle gladly fell to Earth, and Michael followed her, not wanting to be parted. Together, they founded the Blue Blood Coven, a society of fallen angels seeking redemption and a return to Paradise. They were reborn as twins almost every cycle, and their link was deemed sacrosanct. Over generations, they ruled the Coven together, continually returning to each other. However, their relationship endured terrible wounds.

Gabrielle was reincarnated as Junia Teresa, while Michael became Cassius. Lucifer returned as Gaius Caligula and kidnapped Gabrielle, putting their love to the test. Michael could have destroyed Lucifer forever, but he decided to save Gabrielle instead. Though he spared her life, she never forgave him for allowing Lucifer to flee – a memory that haunted both of them for the rest of their lives. Their connection was severely strained in Florence, when Gabrielle was reincarnated as Tomasia Fosari. During this cycle, Lucifer fooled her by posing as Andreas (Michael), bonding with Tomasia, and fathering Azazel. When Andreas learned the truth, he imprisoned Gabrielle and ordered that her memories be erased. Their child was taken from her and was presumably killed. Though the memories were suppressed, the ache persisted. Gabrielle later acknowledged that she began retreating from Michael during each cycle after that.

Despite these betrayals, they continued to bond, although emotionally distant. Gabrielle became increasingly reclusive, retreating within and choosing silence. Michael, steadfast as ever, carried the burden of their responsibility alone. In the current cycle they were reincarnated as Allegra Van Alen and Charles Force. Allegra desired to be free of the life that had been planned for her. She changed schools to avoid Cordelia's supervision, and Charles followed. There, she met a human lad named Stephen Chase, and her heart shifted once more.

Allegra eventually abandoned her tie and left Charles to marry Stephen. This angered Charles, seeking revenge. He trapped Allegra in the Glom and put her love for Stephen to the test. She finally gave in and begged Charles to let Stephen go and she'll renew their bond. Charles saw the love she had for Stephen and let her go. Charles fell ill and Allegra was mortified to realize it was her doing. She went to his side and told him they will always be bonded, but she will always love Stephen. After giving birth to her daughter, Allegra fell into a coma. Presumably bring the one to become ill so her bondmate could live, Despite his grief, Charles continued to visit her every day after she went into a coma following Schuyler's birth. When he fell caught between realms, Allegra's love and determination ultimately awakened her. They struggled once more to stop Lucifer, and while their relationship was strained, it was never destroyed.

It's unclear whether their final reunion was romantic or motivated by duty, but they stayed together until the end.

Stephen

Allegra met Stephen at Endicott. They were instantly attracted to one another. As they got to know each other more, Allegra became drawn to him. They started dating, making Charles jealous. She stated Stephen made her feel like a sixteen year old girl, and not Gabrielle, the archangel. This was one of her main conflicts with Charles. He would often bring up who they were, Gabrielle and Michael, ruling together forever. She hated always being reminded of her past, of her duties as Gabrielle.

Stephen made her feel like a regular human, free from all the responsibilities she held. While performing the sacred kiss on Stephen, Allegra saw a vision of the future. She saw herself giving birth to her and Stephen's daughter. She than saw herself falling into a coma, noticing that Stephen was no where in sight. She figured he most likely died as a result of their relationship. After this vision she promised herself she would let go of Stephen for his safety and go back to Charles. On the night of her bonding to Charles. Stephen paid her a visit, stating he will always love her. This caused her to forsook her bond to Charles and marry Stephen. With her vision in the back of her mind, she confided in Stephen. Informing him of her dooming premonition. Stephen did not care, stating they can chose their own destiny despite the consequence's. In Gates of Paradise, we learn that Stephen was diagnosed with cancer. Allegra begged him to see a doctor but Stephen knew this was his fate from Allegra's premonition. She stayed by his side for the rest of his short life. Stephen died before their daughter Schuyler was born.

At the end of Gates of Paradise. Schuyler opened the gates leading to Paradise. She stated she saw Gabrielle in her angelic form and Stephen standing right beside her.

Lucifer

He is the father of their child Azazel. He tricked Gabrielle into thinking he was Michael and impregnated her. While she was at first modified by this action, she knew she wanted to keep the child and fought to keep her safe. Claiming that at the time she had loved Lucifer thinking he was Michael and the child was made with love.

Abbadon

He was in love with Allegra, however, she was not in love with him. He joined Lucifer’s army in hopes of impressing her, but she spurned him instead. According to his inner monolog in Keys to the Repository, Abbadon was merely good friends with her.

Their relationship is not one of romance, but of mythic polarity—two divine forces forever circling each other: mercy and justice, creation and destruction. And in the final cycles, it was Abbadon who helped safeguard Gabrielle’s bloodline, even as he defied the laws written to keep them apart.

Relatives[]

Schuyler is Allegra's daughter, born from her illegal mating with her human familiar Stephen Chase. Their connection is defined by absence and fate.Throughout half of the series. Allegra is in a deep coma, Schuyler does not remember much from when her mother was alive. Only getting some vague stores from her grandmother, Cordelia. Schuyler holds great love for Allegra, visiting her almost every week and every holiday at the hospital. Even the nurses and guards all know Schuyler by name. Schuyler often reads the newspaper to Allegra, thinking this could be a way for Allegra to wake up from recognizing her daughters voice. Although nothing ever works, she does not give up hope that one day her mother will wake up.

During the events The Van Alen Legacy. Allegra can be seen appearing in the Glom to Schuyler, offering advice to her daughter. During a battle with Leviathan, Allegra appears once more and offers her sword to Schuyler for battle. Allegra wakes up shortly after the battle, Schuyler rushes to the hospital to finally met her mother.

"Schuyler, you came home." Allegra, upon reuniting with her daughter.

This reunion is cut short. Allegra explains that she only woke up because she could sense that Charles (Michael) was in trouble and did not want him to fight alone. Allegra did give Schuyler important information about the seven gates, The Van Alen Legacy, and Schuyler's role in all of it. She also tells Schuyler she does not regret having her, and will do it all over again.

After the final battle, Allegra appeared to Schuyler in her angelic form, Gabrielle. She thanked Schuyler for her help in the war and let Schuyler be the one to open the gates to paradise. Schuyler led all the vampires back to their original home.

Bliss's relationship with Allegra is one of tragic separation. Azazel, the Darkling was born as a result of Lucifer disguises himself as Michael and impregnating Gabrielle in a past live. When the conclave were informed of this, they took the child from Gabrielle and planned to kill it. Gabrielle's memories of Azazel were erased with magic. She was not killed, Lucifer had help from inside the Coven to safe the child for his plans later on. She was disguised as a fallen angel in the Conclave under the name "Charlotte Potter".

During the current cycle, Azazel was reincarnated as Bliss Llewellyn, she was born to Forsyth Llewellyn. she did not know who her mother was, and her father rarely spoke about her. Bliss discovered a picture of her father and Allegra when they were younger. Bliss put pieces together and found that Allegra was her true mother. After learning of this she went to visit Allegra in the hospital, in hopes of getting answers. Allegra did not awaken. Allegra awoken during the events of The Van Alen Legacy. Allegra visited Bliss in the glom, explaining how once awakened, Allegra recognized Bliss for who she was. She was honest with Bliss about her ignorance and apologized for the years of not being there for her daughter. She reminded Bliss that even though her birth was centered with so much darkness, she was still made in love.

"You are ours... I will always be with you." Allegra speaking to Bliss in the glom.

Allegra helped Bliss sever the spiritual tether to Lucifer using Michael's sword. Freeing her daughter from Lucifer and his corruption. Later on Allegra gives Bliss a new angelic name "Lupos Theliel" and charging her with an important mission: find the Hounds of Hell and bring them back to help in the final war against Lucifer.

Allegra relationship with Cordelia, her cycle mother, was rooted in control and generational tension. Allegra describe's Cordelia as over-controlling, she was raised with intense scrutiny and high standards. She did not have a good relationship with her mother. This made Allegra move away from Duchesne and enroll in Endicott, hoping she could get away from Cordelia and her overbearing nature. Her strained relationship with her mother could also be caused by Allegra wanting to be treated as a normal teenage girl, and not Gabrielle, the archangel. Allegra liked to pretend she was just another normal girl, and got very annoyed when any mention of her role as Gabrielle was brought up.

When Allegra broke her bond to Charles, Cordelia was outraged. She believed Allegra was endangering her soul and the whole coven for some human familiar.

"I though more of you. I thought you would care. I did not expect you to be so heartless, Allegra." Cordelia expressing her heartbreak to Allegra.

Though all for this, we can see that Cordelia does care for her daughter. She oversaw Allegra's health, keeping tabs on her coma status. She later took up the role as Schuyler's guardian. Raising her granddaughter in Allegra's absence.

Lawerence was not present for most of Allegra's life. He was already exiled from the coven by the time she was born. Though distant, he held deep affection for Allegra and made many decisions to protect her. He was the one that ordered the concealment of Bliss's birth. Thinking he was helping his daughter from this trauma. We can see Lawerence's love through his relationship with his granddaughter, Schuyler. He became a teacher to her and helped her through her transformation.

He did confess to his part in the concealment of Allegra's first daugther. Writing a letter to her before his final mission to Rio.

" I am leaving for Rio tomorrow evening, and i do know if i will be able to return... Yes, you did have a child. We kept her hidden from you after her birth, and her destruction was my doing."

Quotes[]

“This was no way to talk to his bondmate, but he couldn't help it. Because Charlie was Michael, of course. After what had happened in Florence, there was no doubt about it now: they had been born as twins in every cycle since then. The House of Records insisted on the practice, so what happened back then would never happen again. So that, from the beginning, there would be no doubts, no questions, no more mistakes." - Bloody Valentine

"No, darling… I felt the stirring deep in the glom. It would have been selfish for me to continue to stop taking the blood… to stay rooted in my isolation."Allegra, upon awakening from her coma, explaining her return to Schuyler

"She only left Heaven out of love for you and Cordelia when you were banished… It was her choice to become one of the undead."Lawrence Van Alen on Gabrielle’s sacrifice for her family and the Fallen

“This was your father’s great failure, Gabrielle whispered into Schuyler’s ear. Will it be yours? Will you choose love over all?”Gabrielle’s spiritual warning to her daughter, passing on the weight of destiny

Notes[]

  • It is stated in Vampires of Manhattan that Allegra followed the majority of the blue bloods and returned to their home in Paradise.
  • Gabrielle is stated to have been the cycle mother to most of the angels at some point, and is seen as sort of a mother to them all, collectively.
  • In the early books, it's stated Allegra went into a coma mere months after the birth of Schuyler. This was contradicted in Keys to the Repository. Where it was said Allegra fell into a coma three years after Schuyler's birth. This confusion was said to be an error due to her hospital records and the difficult birth of Schuyler.
