Blue Bloods Universe Wiki
Jack Force was more than she had ever dared wish for, and he was better than a dream or a fantasy because he was real. He was far from perfect, moody and distant at times, and burdened with sharp temper and an impulsiveness that was part of his dark nature. But she felt more love for him than she thought possible. He wasn't perfect, but he was perfect for her.

Biography:[]

Early life[]

Schuyler was born premature, and as a baby was perpetually underweight. Her pediatrician noted that she did not speak until her fourth birthday, when she suddenly began using whole sentences. Her primary caretaker, Cordelia Van Alen, her maternal grandmother, refused to allow speech therapy, insisting that her granddaughter was perfectly capable of speaking and would do so when she was ready.

Role in the Series[]

Blue Bloods[]

Schuyler Van Alen starts the story as a misfit at Duchesne, a prestigious private school in Manhattan. She wears layered thrift-store outfits, making her an outcast among her wealthy classmates. One night, she is waiting to enter a popular club with her childhood best friend, Oliver Hazard-Perry. The two are concerned since they are using phony IDs and are afraid of getting discovered. She observes a young man getting out of a taxi and being hit by another car. She dashes out to see what happened and realizes the young man is Jack Force, her charming and popular classmate. He assures her that he is OK and nothing occurred. They share a brief moment before she is tugged away to enter the club with Oliver. They met up with their friend Dylan Ward and try to enjoy themselves.

The next morning she arrives at school and finds out that a classmate of hers, Aggie Carondolet, has been murdered the previous weekend. Oliver tells her she died of overdose and Schuyler feels sympathy for the girl. During a class period she is sat beside Jack, as the class is talking about Aggie. Jack slides Schuyler a note that states Aggie didn't die of a overdose, she was murdered. School lets out early and she's left wondering what the note meant, she shakes it off as a prank. She arrives home and her guardian and grandmother, Cordelia Van Alen, expresses sadness over Aggie's death. She points out that Schuyler's blue veins are getting worse and it reminded of an upcoming appointment. Her grandmother reminisces over Schuyler's comatose mother, Allegra Van Alen. She attends Aggie's funeral the next morning and is surprised to find her grandmother talking to Charles Force, the father of Jack and his twin Mimi Force, a fellow student that isn't quite fond of Schuyler. She notices that Charles and her grandmother are having a quiet argument that ends with Charles walking away. She questions her grandmother who brushes away her questions. She later visits Dr. Pat, a popular doctor and Oliver's aunt. She asks Schuyler weird questions about her veins and states everything will make sense in the spring.

She is walking to her next class when she's stopped by a modeling agent who's there to recruit young talent. She praises Schuyler beauty and convinces her to write down her number. Bliss Llewellyn, a new student, comes and congratulate's her. Later, Bliss nervously approaches Schuyler for advice about Dylan Ward, admitting she likes him. Schuyler gives her honest advice, suggesting asking Dylan to the upcoming fall dance. Her and Oliver attend the dance, they meet up with Dylan and are feelings out of place. They agree to leave after a while, Schuyler bumps into Jack and asks her for a dance, she wishes Oliver a goodnight and goes with Jack. As their dancing Schuyler gets a surreal vision of her and Jack dancing in a room that looks 100 years in the past. She asks Jack if he saw the same thing, he agrees. Before she can ask another question. Jack goes back inside after hearing his sister, Mimi scream. The two argue about Mimi's date passing out, Schuyler leaves the party with Dylan and Bliss.

The following Sunday, Schuyler pays a visit to her mother in the hospital and recalls how long she has been in a coma. Schuyler's mother has been in this state for as long as she can remember. She describes how physicians can't figure out why her mother is in a coma, claiming that everything is fine; she just won't wake up. When Schuyler enters the room, she sees a man near her mother's bed. When she arrives, the man has vanished. She wonders who this man could be and experiences strange feelings she already knows. She begins reading from the newspaper to her mother. Cordelia suggested this when Schuyler was a child, hoping it will wake Allegra up from hearing her daughter's voice. In the coming days, Schuyler notices Oliver becoming more distant. She tries to talk to him; Oliver is upset over the fall dance. Schuyler apologizes, but Oliver does not accept. She tells Oliver she has received an invitation to The Committee. An elite invitation-only club that specializes in generating funds for various types of blood diseases. Oliver is shocked, which hurts Schuyler as she believes Oliver does not think she is wealthy enough to join The Committee.

Schuyler nervously attends her first Committee meeting. The room is filled with Duchesne students. Priscilla DuPont, Chief Warden, explains that they are gathered not for social events, but because they are special. She asks around the room if anyone has noticed changes in their body, blue marks on their warm, bursts of knowledge, or time slipping away in flashes of memories. Schuyler glances around and realizes a lot of other students have experienced the same thing. Priscilla reveals the truth, they are vampires, the newest Blue Bloods, part a long and noble line that has existed since the dawn of time. Unlike the myths created by humans, they are not monsters, they are fallen angels, cast out of Paradise and cursed to walk the earth as mortals. She explains their blood is alive, a living database containing every memory from their past lives (cycles). While they do age and die, their blood is the immortal aspect of themselves. She also explains that their dogs, like Schuyler's bloodhound Beauty, are not pets, but guardians, pieces of their souls manifested to protect them during their vulnerable Sunset years, where from 15 to 21, a Blue Blood manifest's their powers and retain all memories from their past lives. Schuyler leaves the room, not believing any of it. She states that while they do need human blood to survive, they do not kill humans. Instead they take multiple human familiar's at a time for feeding. Jack catch's up to her and insists everything is true. He gets her to feel the vangs in her mouth, she can no longer deny it, she is a vampire.

When she returns home, Cordelia has invited her to tea and congratulated her on joining The Committee. Cordelia confirms Schuyler's Blue Blood status, citing her mother's heritage. When asked about Schuyler's father, Cordelia informs her that he died and was unworthy of her mother. Schuyler suspects her grandmother is keeping a lot of information from her. She tries to reconcile this new reality with her usual life. She pays a visit to her mother in the hopes of getting some answers. She notices the strange man is back and begs Allegra to return to him. He vanishes again when Schuyler enters the room. She pleads with her mother for information about her father and their history, but Allegra does not awaken. Later that evening, Schuyler receives a call from her school's modeling agent, who excitedly informs her that a popular jeans designer company wants her for a photoshoot. The next morning, she bumps into Bliss, who is also a model for the campaign. The girls get ready, and Schuyler notices her own beauty, noting how much she looks like her mother. She joins the photographer and other models for a smoke, and they reveal that they are also Blue Bloods, pointing out that many elites are immortal. She poses with Bliss for a few shots before heading home. On her way she is attacked by a creature with red eyes, she feels the monsters fangs pierce her neck and her blood being drained. Her dog Beauty fights off the creature, who runs away. Bliss comes to her aid, Schuyler checks her neck and notices there are no wounds, the girls are left confused. Later that week, Bliss invites her to a house party, when she arrives she quickly looks for Jack to inform him on her attack. She finds him and fills him in, Jack shares with her that their kind can not be killed, stating his tried numerous times. He confesses to her that something is out there hunting them and has the ability to kill. He suspects The Committee is hiding something. He also reveals that Aggie was a Blue Blood, and she was found with all of her blood drained from her body, killing her angelic self. He tries to delve into his memories from his previous life to see if there is anything. He returns to his Plymouth cycle and states he believes his memories have been blocked, but he does remember one word: Croatan.

Jack informs of Schuyler of many other Blue Bloods that have died the same way Aggie did. He shares that they were all around their age and that the Coven has not spoken about the murders. They share a kiss and are caught by Mimi, who's there to inform her brother that Bliss's parents are back early and they have to leave. Schuyler tries to express her feelings to Jack, who stops her and states he feels the same way. After leaving Bliss's party, she takes a taxi to The Bank, a popular club where she knows she'll find Oliver. They talk and Schuyler apologizes for ignoring him at the him. They reconcile, Oliver takes her to a secret entrance beneath the club, leading to The Repository. A vast underground library that contains all Blue Blood history since the beginning. Oliver reveals himself to be Schuyler's Conduit, their job to protect and guide a Blue Blood their assigned too. He explains his family has been serving the Van Alen's for centuries. He states that Blue Bloods do not believe in keeping human Conduits anymore. They search the library for anything related to Croatan. Their search yields nothing. As their going to school, they notice that Dylan is being escorted out in handcuffs. Bliss runs to Schuyler and explains that they think Dylan is Aggie's killer. Schuyler fills Bliss in on all the information she got from Jack. They both agree that Dylan is innocent since his a human and Aggie was a Blue Blood. Schuyler asks if Bliss has asked her father, Forysth, for any help since his a state senator. Bliss explains that she did but he stated everything is being taken off by The Committee, the group finds this old since Committee meetings have been canceled til further notice. She goes to class and tries to talk to Jack asking for their next move. Jack shuts her out and doubles back on his claims, saying that they should trust The Committee and the Coven as their taking care of things. He apologizes for misleading Schuyler with his feelings. Schuyler informs her friends Jack is not going to help them.

The three travel to Dylan's home to find answers, they are informed by a doorman that his parents have moved. Schuyler and Oliver realize they don't know anything about Dylan's personal life, both are left feelings guilty. They head back to the Repository to continue their search. Oliver stumbles open an old diary written by Catherine Carver, a Plymouth settler. The final entry contains an ominous warning about Croatan and how their not safe. They conclude that something hunted Blue Bloods since Plymouth when they arrived in the country. They check who last checked out that diary for answering and see it was Cordelia, Schuyler goes to her for answers. Schuyler meets Cordelia for lunch and demands for answers over the diary. They go into their town car where Cordelia explains that the dairy was written by her in her past cycle. She goes on to explain that Croatan is an ancient word for Silver Bloods. Blue Bloods who drink from other vampires, by consuming blue blood they become abominations. The Silver Bloods are led by Lucifer. She reveals that Blue Bloods are fallen angels from heaven, who were banished after siding with Lucifer during his war over The Almighty and control over Paradise. She warns that Schuyler that Blue Bloods are most vulnerable during their Sunset Years. She states that the Silver Bloods are back and are hunting young Blue Bloods once more. She confesses her suspicions that the Conclave, led by Charles Force, refuse to act on the murders. She states that Silver Bloods have been erased from their history and she and her husband have been trying to warn the others for centuries. She gives Schuyler a clue, Silver Bloods are still bound by the laws of Heaven and the Sacred Language.

No one has brought up Aggie's murder at the Committee meetings since they resumed. Schuyler is shocked to learn that the Four Hundred ball is all that matters to them. She goes up to Jack and tells him she understands Croatan's true meaning. Schuyler rejects Jack's repeated attempts to persuade her to have faith in the Committee. Schuyler and Bliss decide to skip class in order to attempt to speak with Charles Force regarding Croatan and Dylan's arrest. They find him and attract his interest. Bliss describes Dylan's dilemma, Charles tells her that everything is fine and he had been released that morning, startling the girls. Charles informs Schuyler that her grandmother has been spreading false information and is unaware of the situation, stating that Croatan has never existed. After hearing her father discuss Dylan's whereabouts, Bliss tells the group and they head to the hotel where Dylan is staying. When they arrive at his room and discover nothing, they are puzzled and have more questions about where he is. She walks home from the hotel alone, she turns into a quiet street and a familiar prickle of fear washes over her. Within seconds she is grabbed by a Silver Blood and sinks its fangs into her neck. She struggles and feels her life drain away. The creature let's go and Schuyler see's Jack fighting it off. They both use the Scared Language to command the creature to show it's true form. The Silver Blood reveals its true face, the face of Charles Force.

Jack dismisses Schuyler's claims that it was genuinely Charles' face. Schuyler states that all Silver Bloods must adhere to the Sacred Language. The two head to the hospital after Jack explains that his father spends a lot of time there for unclear reasons. Schuyler realizes that the man she's been seeing is Charles. They discover Charles in the hospital room and confront him about being the Silver Blood. Charles pulls back his shirt cuss and shows a mark on his wrist, a golden sword piercing a cloud. Jack drops his knees and explains it is the Archangel symbol, his father is Michael, Pure of Heart, who chose to follow the banished to guide the them. Charles reveals that the Silver Blood are shape shifters and showed them something to throw them off. Schuyler questions about Dylan, and Charles reveals that he was indeed a Silver Blood. He states he saw the marks on Dylan's mark, and it is assumed that another Silver Blood took control of Dylan and forced him to kill Aggie. Charles continues to deny the existence of Silver Bloods and comes up with different reasons for the murders. Charles argues that he does not want to worry the Coven and risk sending them back into hiding. Schuyler then inquires about Dylan's location, and Charles responds that he is still at the hotel. Schuyler explains that she checked and he wasn't there. Charles insists that they find him quickly.

Schuyler returns home and notices something is wrong. She rushes into her grandmother's room and discovers her lying on the floor in a pool of blue blood. Cordelia explains that a Silver Blood attacked her but she fought it off; she wants Schuyler to transport her blood to Dr. Pat for the next cycle. Schuyler weeps for her grandma, who discloses her true heritage. Cordelia explains that Allegra is Gabrielle, one of only two Archangels who came down from Paradise to guide the Blue Bloods. Gabrielle was blood-bound to Michael. Allegra ended their bond and married Schuyler's human father, Stephen Chase. She tells Schuyler that she is the only Dimidum Cognatus, a half-blood. She warns Schuyler that many will come to harm since since it is foretold that Gabrielle's daughter will bring the Blue Bloods the salvation they seek. Cordelia informs Schuyler that the only person who can help right now is her husband, Lawrence Van Alen, who lives in Venice. Cordelia tells her granddaughter to stay safe and then passes away. Cordelia's funeral is held the following week, and many people attend to say their goodbyes. Jack apologizes for the strangeness between them and says he has duties. Schuyler cuts him off and tells Jack that she knows what he needs to do and what she needs to do. She bids Jack goodbye and leaves with Oliver. While the two are driving, they cross a newspaper that reveals another Blue Blood has been murdered. She turns to Oliver and asks him how he would feel about a weekend in Venice.

"Take care of yourself, granddaughter," she said, reaching for Schuyler's hand. "Facio Valiturus Fortis." Be strong and brave.

Relatives[]

Allegra succumbed to a self-imposed coma in 1995, three years following the birth of Schuyler, who was conceived from the illegal union with her husband/human familiar. While earlier reports indicated that Allegra lapsed into unconsciousness immediately following the birth of Schuyler, the Repository has concluded that the confusion on the dates of Allegra’s current long-term hospitalization stemmed from her lengthy stay at the maternity ward after the difficult birth of her child. Schuyler made it a habit to revisit her comatose mother in the hospital every Sunday. Allegra is seen throughout the series appearing in Schuyler's dreams. Such as encouraging her to return to New York after fleeing, and rekindling her love with Jack Force. She is also seen appearing to give Schuyler her sword for battle. She awoke from her coma in The Van Alen Legacy, following this she only had a mere conversation with Schuyler. Explaining to her what the Van Alen Legacy was and what it required. After that she went to help Charles in his battle. During the end of the series Allegra appears as her angelic self ,Gabrielle. She gave Schuyler the courage to default the sliver bloods and Lucifer. She helped Schuyler reopen the gates to paradise.

Schuyler and her father do not have any relationship in the blue bloods series, since his fate is unknown.

Cordelia and Lawrence were Schuyler’s cycle grandparents, with Cordelia acting as her legal guardian after Allegra fell into a coma. Cordelia was intimidating and aloof in manner, even in her relations with her granddaughter. She was stern and sometimes cold with Schuyler. Despite this, the both had a mutual love for one another. Lawerence became a guide to Schuyler during the short time they had together. He trained Schuyler in the various powers that Blue bloods possess. They became very close.

Romances[]

Jack Force is the current reincarnation of the Angel of Death Abbadon, Angel of Destruction, Twin Angel of the Apocalypse, the Unlikely, Destroyer of Worlds. He forsoke his bond to his twin Mimi Force to be bonded to Schuyler.

Oliver, now bound to Schuyler's half sister (as seen in Vampires in Manhattan) Finn Chase, was once Schuyler's romantic interest. Later coming to realize that it was Jack Schuyler truly loved, he suggested she leave with him, regardless of his own feelings for her. Best-friend, lover, conduit, and familiar, the two were bound in many ways.

Friends[]

Dylan enrolled at the Duchesne School his sophomore year, and the intern reports state that rumors began circulating from the very beginning that he had been kicked out of every prep school on the Northeastern Seaboard. He found friendship with fellow misfits Schuyler Van Alen and Oliver Hazard-Perry, and a budding romance with Bliss Llewellyn.

Oliver Hazard-Perry was first and foremost Schuyler's best friend. Assigned to her from the moment of his birth, he performed admirably well as Schuyler’s human conduit, but also acted as a confidant, a protector, and a "partner-in-crime". Back when they were in school, they would often go to each other's houses or go out together, dissecting every bit of social interaction.

Notes[]

  • Because Schuyler is unpronounceable in French, her given name was changed to Theodora.
    • Both Theodora and Elizabeth (which are the middle names of Schuyler) have a meaning attached to history: Theodora means "gift of God" in Greek, while Elizabeth comes from the Hebrew, meaning "God's promise."
  • Schuyler has six US presidents in her family tree.
  • In Vampires of Manhattan, we discover that Schuyler and Jack Force have seven year old twins.
  • Despite being the only Half-Blood between a Blue Blood and human, there are other half-vampire, half-humans that have existed. Nephilim are born of a Silver Blood and human. This also has some implications for her ultimate fate; Nephilim are enmortal, just like their parents.
